Memorial services for Zola W. Brownrigg, 72, were held Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at the Guernsey Presbyterian Church with Reverend Lawrence Athorn officiating. Memorial gifts to the Guernsey Rescue Unit would be appreciated by the family. Mrs. Brownrigg died at the home of her son, Cody, in Newcastle on April 11, 1995.
She was born August 21, 1922, at Fort Laramie, the daughter of Allen and Nellie (Hargreaves) Haynes. She attended school north of Fort Laramie. On May 28, 1940, she married William Lee Brownrigg at Gering, Neb. The couple lived north of Guernsey on the family ranch for a short time before moving to San Francisco, Cal., where they lived for three years. In 1943, they returned to the home ranch where they ranched until they sold it in 1977. They moved to Torrington, and later made their home on Cherry Creek on the Veteran Highway. She was always interested in writing, and kept journals over the years. She also enjoyed raising a big garden. She is survived by her husband, William, of Torrington; two sons, Cody Brownrigg of Newcastle, and Danny Lee Brownrigg of Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Oneta Mintun of Davenport, Iowa; one brother, Floyd Haynes of Guernsey; two sisters-in-law, Lee Bickford of Lake Havasue, Ariz., and Jane Luster of Palmer, Alaska.
The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
