Peter Brown Dies Thurs.; Services Held Saturday

Peter Paul Brown, 79, died in the Spencer Hospital early Thursday morning after suffering a stroke, Mr. Brown had been ill and confined to his home for some time., he was admitted to the hospital Tuesday.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Ab DeCastro sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

C. E. Marvin presided over the Masonic portion of the services.

Pall bearers were: John Lorenzen, Menno Kaan, Lafe Culver, Don C. Taylor, Roscoe Kilmer and Hans Gautschi.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Peter Paul Brown was born in Winthrop, Ia. June 29, 1880. He moved with his family to Nebraska where he attended school. After graduating from high school he became a railway engineer. He came to Lusk in 1918. March 23, 1919 he married Miss Carrie Larson. For many years they operated both the Silver Cliff and Henry (now the Spencer Hospital) hotels. After retiring from the hotel business he served as clerk of the Selective Service Board. Two years ago he retired from that position because of ill health.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ann Miller of Denver; three brothers, John, St. Paul, Minn., James and Martin, Lambert, Mont. and two grandchildren.

Out-of-town relatives and friends here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Miller and Sharon, Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Hank Cocking , Mrs. Katherine Wood and Janice, Casper; Mrs. Gertrude Wilson, Albuquerque, New Mex., Mrs. Betty Mater, Crawford; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Berry, Newcastle; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cates and Mr. and Mrs. Scotrty Jack, Cheyenne.
