Robert L. Blaney

Memorial services for Robert L. Blaney, 68, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 5, 1996, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Helen E. Oates officiating.

He died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at the Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Mr. Blaney was born May 26, 1927, in the Flattop community, in Niobrara County, the son of Samuel and Nellie Blaney. He attended all 12 years of school in Manville and graduated from high school there in 1946.

Bob served in the U. S. Army and later went to work for Continental Pipeline Company. He worked for them for 38 years until his retirement. In all, Bob had lived in Niobrara County for 61 years.

Bob married Bonna J. Monger on March 29, 1949, in Rapid City, S.D. They enjoyed the winters in Apache Junction, Ariz., since Bob's retirement.

Bob was a member of the Lance Creek Community church, the V.F.W., the Elks Lodge in Lusk, and was a member of the Council of the Senior Center in Apache Junction. He loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Niobrara Sportsman's Club. Bob was always a great volunteer for many causes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Cliff.

Survivors include his wife Bonna of Lusk; one son Douglas Blaney and his wife Darlene and their two children, Alyssa and Daniel Scott all of Carr, Colo.; one sister, Mae Hoyt of Douglas; and one brother, William Blaney of Lake Havasu, Ariz.

For those who wish, memorials to the Niobrara Senior Center will be appreciated by the family.

Bader Funeral Home of Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
