Edna Marie Blackmore

Rosary services for Edna Marie Blackmore were at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 1995, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. Immediately following the Rosary a ceremony was performed by Lusk D.O.E.S. #64 of Lusk. Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. Leo's with Rev. Patrick Shea officiating.

Edna died Sunday, February 26, 1995, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was born September 13, 1922, on the family homestead in Goshen County, the daughter of Andrew and Marie Owens.

She attended school through the second grade at Rawhide, through the seventh grade at Royal Valley, when the family moved to Niobrara County where Edna completed her education and graduated from Lusk High School in 1941.

On November 2, 1941, she married Clyde L. Blackmore at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. Edna and Clyde raised their three daughters in Lusk where Edna remained until the time of her death.

Edna was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church where she was active in the Alter and Rosary Societies. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W., and Lusk D.O.E.S. #64. In recent years Edna was active with the Legend of Rawhide Pageant. For many years she was employed at Whitaker's Clothing Store until her retirement. Her hobbies included her family, camping, fishing, boating, playing cards and she participated in a bowling league for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde on October 2, 1980, and one sister and one brother who died in infancy.

Survivors include three daughters: Janice E. Roggow and her husband Garry of Casper, Wyoming, Dixie L. Thompson and her husband Tom of Whitney, Nebraska, and Sharon R. Savoian and her husband Jerry of Valley Center, Cal.; two brothers, John and Pete Owens of Casper, two sisters, Louise Umphenour of Shelton, Wash. and Virginia Fraser of Sundance, Wyo.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandsons, plus numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

For those who wish, memorials to Lusk Elks Lodge #1797 or Lusk D.O.E.S. #64 will be appreciated by the family.
