Kenneth L. Branum
Kenneth Branum, formerly of Harrison, Neb., died Sunday, July 9, 1989, at Brookings Hospital after an illness of several months.
The son of Leonard and Winnie Branum, he was born on Sept. 8, 1914, in Graceville, Minn.
He was married to Lorayne Briggs on Sept. 3, 1939, in Grand Meadow, Minn. They were blessed with five children - Maryann Howard of Indianapolis, Ind.; Pat Halverson of Pueblo, Col.; Judy Thompson of Huron, S.D.; Linda Eggebraaten of Arlington, S.D. and one son Bill, presently Stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City.
The family lived in several towns in Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota where Mr. Branum was a farmer, a truck driver and a mechanic. In 1971, he and his wife moved to Harrison, Neb., where he lived and worked until recently.
His activities included being involved in the United Methodist Church and local card clubs.
He is survived by his children, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and two sisters.
Memorial services were held at the United Methodist Church in Arlington, S.D., at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, with Pastor Sunandhumar Samuel conducting the service.
Mr. Branum, like his wife, willed his body to medical science.
Memorial services were also held in Harrison, Neb., at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, at the Harrison United Methodist Church.
The Johnson-Henry Funeral Home of Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
