Solomon "Sol" Lorenzo Wood
Sol Wood Dies Suddenly From Stroke Wednesday
Thon Book No. 2
Friends from Lusk and the surrounding community were shocked this (Wednesday) morning May 17, when it became known that Sol Wood had died at 4:30 a.m. from the effects of a paralytic stroke suffered about 7:30 last evening.
Mr. Wood, although not feeling well, had been about his ranch work as usual, so the stroke which was very severe came as a great shock to his wife. The ranch phone was out of commission, so his 14 year old son, Jim drove a pickup truck to the Levern James ranch to telephone for Dr. W. E. Reckling.
Upon the doctor's arrival he thought it best to try and get the patient to the hospital, so the Peet ambulance was phoned from the James ranch and when it arrived Mr. Wood was brought to the Spencer Hospital where he died early this morning. He never regained consciousness.
Solomon Lorenzo Wood was born Sept. 27, 1900 at LeMars Iowa and came to Lusk as a boy where he has since resided. He has been engaged in ranching and stock raising on his ranch some 12 miles northeast of Lusk.
Mr. Wood leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Catherine, three daughters, Donna Jo, Carol Beth, and Janice and one son, James. Among the other relatives who survive is a brother, Sam Wood of Lusk and a sister, Mrs. D. H. Dale of Portland, Ore.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Peet Chapel on Friday afternoon, May 19, at 2:30 with Rev. Lawrence Juell officiating.
