Joyce "Gram" Winifred Slothower
Joyce Winifred Slothower
Joyce Slothower died on Jan. 19, 2007 at the age of 94. She was born to Otto and Amelia Van Cleave on July 2, 1912 in Broken Bow, Nebraska and was the only girl and the eldest of five children.
The family moved to New Raymer, Colo. and then later to McFadden, where Joyce married Elmer Slothower on Aug. 16, 1930. Joyce and Elmer moved to Casper in 1949 and then to Lance Creek in 1959. After retiring from the oilfield they moved back to Casper. They finally moved to Yuma, Ariz. in 1984.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and is survived by her brothers Ted Van Cleave of Fort Collins, Colo. and Pete Van Cleave of Sidney, Neb., her son Jack (Chris) Slothower of Reno, Nev. and her daughter Beverly (Dick) Mangis of Yuma, five grandchildren, Roxanne Williams of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Renee (Mark) Robbins of Tucson, Ariz., Jeff Mangis of Yuma, Jennifer (Rob) Henderson of Yuma and Curtis Slothower of Reno, Nev., 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce, was known as "Gram" throughout her family and was a devoted homemaker, constantly showing her love for her grandchildren and their children. She will be remembered for her loving kindness and dedication to her family.
There are no services by request. Kammann Mortuary will handle cremation arrangements.
"Gram" is now in the greater care of her Lord and Savior.
