Charles Raymond Wise

Charles Raymond Wise, age 66, died January 18 at the Scottsbluff Nursing Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. No memorial service will be held and cremation has taken place. The family has requested that all memorials be sent to either the Niobrara County Hospital or to the Lusk/Niobrara Ambulance Service.

Charles was born June 2, 1933 in Palo Alto, California to Raymond Joseph Wise and Julia (Plodeck) Wise. He graduated from eighth grade in San Carlos, California and graduated from Sequoia Union High School of Redwood City, Calif. in 1951.

In 1956 he married Darlene Martin. Two children, Ray and Norma, were born to this union; after 18 years the couple divorced in 1974.

On July 5, 1980, Charles married Rita (Henry) Babcock. After his retirement from Pan Am Airlines, the couple moved to Van Tassell, Wyo., where they were both involved with the community. Charles held the office of mayor for the town of Van Tassell from 1990 through 1998. He also took an active role in the Van Tassell Fire Department and he took great pride in helping to establish the Buckaroo Park.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Julia Wise; his son, Ray; and his wife, Rita.

Survivors include his daughter, Norma Hansen, her daughters, Tina and Sarah; a stepson Robert Babcock of Fremont, Calif. and his two children, Robby and Katie; a stepdaughter Janet Babcock of South Royalton, Vt. and her two sons, Christopher and Kevin.

Bader Funeral Home of Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
