Leonard Dale Williams

Private family services will be held for Leonard Dale Williams, 76, who died Nov. 25, 2002, at Shepherd of The Valley Care Center. Cremation has taken place.

A native of Lusk, he was born June 3, 1926, to Leonard and Essie (Holloway) Williams. The oldest of 12 children, he was raised and educated in Lusk.

Dale served in the U.S. Navy from February 1944 to June 1946. He received the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal with three stars, American Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars.

After the war, he worked in the oil fields and in construction in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado, until his retirement in Beaumont, Texas in 1988.

He married Margaret "Peggy" Schultz on July 5, 1968, in Boulder, Colo. He moved to Casper in October 2002, to be near his siblings. He enjoyed watching football and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1806 in Beaumont.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy, Rusty and Jackie Williams all of Colorado; two stepsons, Fred Schultz of Beaumont, and Larry Schultz of Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven brothers and their wives, Basil and Gary, both of Casper, Harold of Worland, Melvin of Bellingham, Wash., Robert of Bullhead City, Ariz., Don of Buffalo, and Terry of Lusk; two sisters, Shirley Murphy and Carol Garcia both of Douglas; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers, Jimmy and Larry.
