Mrs. Walker, Former Resident, Dies June 1
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Westmoreland Walker, 82, of Guymon, Okla., who died June 1 in Memorial Hospital, were held at 10:00a.m. June 4 in the Bunch Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. H. G. Butler, a retired Methodist minister, officiated. Burial was in Elmhurst Cemetery.
A native of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Walker was born August 15, 1887, and moved to the Guymon area in 1890 with her family. They homesteaded near Cold Water Creek.
She was married to George Walker Sr. in 1911 in Harrison, Neb. they moved to Lusk, Wyo. where they ranched in the Whitman area. Mr. Walker died in 1934 and she remained in Wyoming until 1949, when she returned to Guymon where she made her home with a sister, Ethel Johnson.
She was a member of the Roy Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, George Jr. of Newcastle, Wyo.; four sisters, Mrs. Al Snyder of Harrison, Nebr.; Mrs. Nora Norman of Glendale, Ariz., Mrs. Ethel Johnson and Mrs. Rose Reeder, both of Guymon; one granddaughter, Mrs. Karen James of Billings, Mont., and one great grandson, Mark James of Billings, Mont.
