Lillian Burnham Dies in Torrington
Many Lusk and area residents attended the funeral of Mrs. Lillian Roena Burnham in Torrington Monday at the Colyer Funeral Home. Mrs. Burnham, 82, a long time resident of the Prairie Center community, died in the Torrington Hospital last Thursday.
Officiating at the funeral was the Rev. Lonnie B. Johnston. Organist was Mrs. Fern Wilburn. Singing a duet were Mrs. Don Scott and Mrs. Lewis A. Colyer.
Casket bearers were James Exley, Robert Coffee, Mahlon Peterson, James Shane, William Coffee and Ed Baldwin. Interment was in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.
Mrs. Burnham was born at Weir, Kan., November 7, 1890, the daughter of Frank and Blanche Neil Holmes. She grew up in that vicinity and was married to O. H. (Harry) Burnham at Columbus, Kan., June 1, 1908. The couple came to Wyoming in 1915 and homesteaded ten miles south of Van Tassell. In 1924 they moved to a ranch 18 miles southeast of Lusk, where they resided until 1957 when they retired and moved to Torrington.
She was a member of the Torrington Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jack Burnham of Torrington and a daughter Mrs. William (Nina) DesEnfants, who resides on a ranch north of Torrington. She is also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband and one sister preceded her in death.
