Verne Lee Vondra

Services for Verne Lee Vondra, 65, were held Monday, March 2 1992, at 2 p.m. at the Boyd Avenue Baptist Church in Casper by Bill Hayes and John Guillott from the Paradise Valley Baptist Church.

Vondra died Feb. 26, 1992, at the Wyoming Medical Center following a short illness. He was born Dec. 18, 1926, to Chuck and Hattie (McCurdy) Vondra. He was raised in the Jay Em/Prairie Center area and attended his junior and senior year at Torrington High School. He graduated in 1944.

On Aug. 8, 1948, he married Orese Miller in Lusk. In 1954, after working in oil field construction, he began ranching on the home place in the Prairie Center area. He moved to Casper in 1965 when he started working at the Shirley Basin Uranium Mine.

Vondra was a member of the Paradise Valley Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge of Medicine Bow, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Legion Post No. 1 of Van Tassell.

Survivors include his wife, Orese of Casper; one daughter, Ginger Harper of Casper; one son, Rocky Vondra of Gillette; a nephew, J.B. Vondra of Lusk; three sisters, Mary Ann Sides of Manville; Verona Haskins of Torrington and Ardale Coffee of Harrison, Neb.; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Vondra and one brother, Joe.

Masonic graveside rites and military rites by the United Veterans Council were conducted. Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Memorials to Paradise Valley Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
