Rex D. Umphenour
Rex D. Umphenour of Shelton died at his winter home in Scottsdale, Ariz., Thursday, Nov, 9. He was 76. Mr. Umphenour was born April 16, 1919 in Lusk, to Goldie and Mose Umphenour.
He married Louise Owens, Sept. 14, 1940 in Wyoming. They moved to Olympia, where they lived while he was serving in the military. They moved to Shelton in 1945. He worked for the PUD for 30 years, retiring in 1976.
Mr. Umphenour was a Mason and served as father advisor of Demolay and Rainbow for a number of years. He was a member of the Mason County Historical Society and the Elks Club. He enjoyed traveling, bridge and collecting antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jay Umphenour.
Mr. Umphenour is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise; his daughter, Georgia Thronson, and son-in-law, Wayne Thronson of Tacoma; his daughter Barbara Claxton of Tacoma; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Scottsdale Sunday. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
