Cecil E. Tryon
Cecil E. Tryon of Shelton, Wash., formerly of the Lusk area, died Thursday, June 25, 1992, in Bemidji, Minn., at his brother's home. He was 78.
Tryon was born in Big Falls, Minn., on July 14, 1913, to Guy and Katie (Elgord) Tryon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Esther G. Prill in Fort Collins, Colo., on April 19, 1947. They lived in Wyoming for many years before moving to Federal Way, Wash., in 1966, and then to Shelton 20 years ago. He worked as a service manager and later owner in automobile businesses.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Shelton and was very active throughout the years in the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Elks and Lions Club. He was Associated Guardian of Job's Daughters and was Commander of the American Legion Post.
He served on the Hospital Board in Lusk while the new hospital was being built. He was president for two terms of the Senior Kiwanis Club in Shelton, and president of the Shelton Chapter of the A.A.R.P. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and entertaining and traveling with the many friends he and his wife shared. He was preceded in death by both parents and by recent loss of his wife on Feb. 25, 1992.
Survivors included two daughters, Sharon Grella of Belevue, Wash. and Billie Ann Manning of Lusk, Wyo.; one son, Dennis Tryon of Vancouver, Wash.; three brothers, Ronald Tryon and Donald Tryon both of Bemidji, Minn. and Jack Tryon of Rapid City, S.D.; one sister, Lavonne Clay of Bemidji, Minn. and 10 grandchildren.
The Rev. Steve Schroeder and Dr. Ludvig Eskildsen will officiate at a memorial service on Thursday, July 2, 1992, at the United Methodist Church of Shelton, Wash. Arrangements are by McComb and Batstone Funeral Home in Shelton.
