Harry L. Burk

Memorial services for Harry L. Burk, 82, were held Monday, July 7, 1986 at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk. Rev. Al Seadore officiated with burial following in the Lusk cemetery.

Burk died Thursday evening, July 3, 1986 at the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk. He was born Dec. 11, 1903 at Rulo, NE. the youngest son of John E. and Etta Mae Marcum Burk. He was educated in Rulo and later moved to Chadron, NE. with his parents.

Harry had a love for the outdoors which he enjoyed with livestock and horses.

He was married to Eileen Leeling of Lusk on July 19, 1941 in Chadron. The couple had three daughters, Harriet Lecher of Crawford, Sonja Alexander and Colleen York both of Lusk.

After ranching, Burk worked for Midwest Furniture and the State of Nebraska Highway Department until he retired in 1972. In April 1972, the Burks moved to Lander, Wy. where Harry enjoyed the mountains, fishing and being with his family. The couple moved to Lusk in 1976 to be close to their children.

Burk was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Eileen of Lusk; three daughters; and seven grandchildren, Nick, Mike and Chris Lecher, Heidi and Jason Alexander, Stacy and Rory York.

Memorials may be made to the family. Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
