Grace Maxine Bancroft

Grace M. Bancroft died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 24, 1985, at the Niobrara Memorial Nursing Home in Lusk. She was 76.

Grace Maxine Bancroft was born on Nov, 23, 1908, in Edgemont, S. D., the daughter of Elmer J. and Mary Elvira Hogg Brown.

She was raised on her father's ranch on Lance Creek. She attended school on the ranch and in Edgemont and Hot Springs, S. D. Later she studied music and art at Hastings College in Nebraska.

She married Stephen Zuber in Denver in 1935. After the death of her husband in 1940 she moved to Cheyenne. She married Clark Bancroft of Cheyenne in 1942.

Mrs. Bancroft was an accomplished artist and musician. She spent many years caring for children.

She is survived by her daughter, Bernice Schoneberg of Lusk; two sisters, Bernice Bird of Lusk and Gladys Rigg of Denver; two grandsons and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Inez Zurcher, and a brother, John Brown.

Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at the Lusk Cemetery. Peet Mortuary handled arrangements.
