Services for Roberta "Bettye" Thon were July 12, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk.

A memorial was held July 14 at Sertoma/Sempiternal Home in Riverton. Memorials are to the family for landscaping projects at Riverton Sertoma/Sempiternal.

She died July 7, 1997, in Riverton.

She was born May 27, 1921, in Bayard, Neb., to Harry and Wilda Rockriver.

Separated from her family at age 3, she and her twin brothers were adopted into a family of 12 and was raised in Washington state.

She attended cosmetology school and married Bernard Thon Oct. 5, 1942, in Olympia, Wash.

After his discharge from the Army, they moved to Lusk. She was a cosmetologist and later operated the Posey Pantry flower shop.

She remained in Lusk until after her husband's death in 1987 when she moved to Riverton.

She loved people and was forever helping others. She was involved in craft work, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include sons Robert and his wife Darlene of Winnemucca, Nev., and Ronald and his wife Carole of Riverton; grandchildren Kari Reiter of Worden, Mont., Rob Thon of Winnemucca, Echol Thon of Winnemucca, Becky Thon of Lincoln, Neb., and Jessi Thon of Riverton; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, two granddaughters, three brothers and two sisters.
