Last Rites are Held Thursday, Nov. 4th, for the Late Mrs. Christina J. Thompson; Services in Douglas, Wyo.
Concluding services were held for the late Mrs. Christina J. Thompson, mother of County Commissioner Leo L. Thompson and James L. Thompson of Lance Creek, at two - thirty o'clock Thursday afternoon, November 4th, in the Methodist church of Douglas, Wyo. Rev. Louis Gale, retired minister of the Congregational Church of Douglas, now residing in Denver, Colo., and Rev. H. H. Lindeman, present pastor of the Douglas Congregational church officiated at the rites. Music during the services was provided by members of the church choir and organist.
Interment was made in the family plot in the Douglas cemetery, with Ted Daniels, Russell Queen, Jack Downs, Irving Carlson, Lyle Cunningham and Albert Glasby serving as casketbearers.
Chris, as she was better known to her many friends was born to Janet and William Gilchrist at Scandia, Kansas, and departed from this life Tuesday, November 2nd, 1954 in General Rose Memorial Hospital in Denver, Colo., following an illness of several months.
She moved with her parents and brothers and sisters to Rexford, Kans., where she resided until her marriage July 8, 1908, to Frank H. Thompson. The couple then moved to Sequin, Kansas where they made their home for five years. In 1914, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson with their daughter, Janet, and son, Leo, came to Wyoming and they homesteaded near the Lance Creek oil field.
Following Mr. Thompson's demise in 1927, Mrs. Thompson moved to Douglas, Wyo., where she had since made her home. She had endeared herself to many through her understanding of others problems and willingness to help them. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Hoxie, Kansas, but since moving to Douglas had been very active in the Congregational church. She was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, past noble grand of Mountain Valley Rebekah Lodge No. 15 of Douglas and a past president of the Douglas P.E.O. chapter.
Survivors include three sons, Leo L. and James L. of Lance Creek, and Frank G. of Newcastle; one daughter, Mrs. Janet T. Froggatt of Douglas; two brothers, Jim and Dave Gilchrist of Rexford, Kans.; three sisters, Mrs. Lorena Newland of Hoxie, Kans., Mrs. Anna Doubleday of Denver, Colo. and Mrs. Janet Davidson of Wheatland, and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Christina Thompson Dies
Mrs. Christina Thompson died Nov. 2 at the General Rose Hospital in Denver. Mrs. Thompson had been in ill health for the past several years.
Christina J. Thompson was born to Janet and Will Gilchrist at Scandia, Kansas. She was married July 8, 1909 to Frank H. Thompson and in 1914 homesteaded in the Lance Creek area. Their homestead home being where the McNeil Construction Co. and the Carter Oil Battery now stand. After the death of Mr. Thompson in 1927 in (a) tractor accident Mrs. Thompson and children moved to Douglas where she has since made her home. She is survived by: three sons, Leo and James L. of Lance Creek and Frank G. of Newcastle; one daughter, Mrs. Janet T. Froggatt of Douglas; three sisters, Anna Doubleday of Denver, Janet Davidson of Wheatland and Lorena Newland of Hoxie, Kansas; two brothers, Jim and Dave Gilchrist both of Rexford, Kansas and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Congregationa Church at Douglas Nov. 4 with Rev. Gale and Rev. Lindeman officiating. Burial was made in the Douglas Cemetery Sunday.
