Lillie Thomas Dies in Casper

Mrs. Lillie May Thomas, 85, died Monday morning at Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 23, 1886, in Custer County, Neb. and was raised and went to school there and in Martinez, Calif. She returned to Nebraska as a young woman and on March 28, 1906, married Willie Thomas of Comstock, Neb., at Ord, Neb. They farmed near Comstock and moved to Keeline, Wyo., in 1934 and farmed there.

They moved to Casper in 1945. Her husband died in Casper in 1953. She lived with a daughter in Casper since that time. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Casper.

She is survived by two sons, Lee of Keeline and Frank of Billings, Mont.; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hayford of Casper; two half-brothers, Paul Firth of Carson City, Calif., and John Firth of Englewood, Colo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are tentatively set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bustard Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Lake, Bethel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Lillie Thomas Dies in Casper

Mrs. Lillie M. Thomas, 85, Casper, formerly of the Keeline community, died May 24 at the Casper hospital. Funeral service was held May 27 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Casper with the Rev. Larry Lake officiating. Burial was in Casper.

Three weeks prior to her death she had broken both arms in an accident and apparently had been progressing satisfactorily.

She married Willie Thomas in 1906 and lived at Long Pine, Neb., until they moved to the Keeline area in 1934 and lived there for a number of years. She showed her Christian devotion by teaching Sunday school classes for many years.

Her husband died previously. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hayford, Casper; sons, Lee Thomas, Keeline, and Frank Thomas, Billings, Mont.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mick Coen of the Keeline area is a niece.
