Lee Thomas

William Lee Thomas of Keeline died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1985. He was 76.

Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 23, 1909, in Willfleet, Neb., the son of Willie and Lille Thomas. He spent his childhood years near Long Pine, Neb., and graduated from Long Pine High School. He came to Wyoming in 1934 and settled west of Keeline. He married Vesta H. Thon May 21, 1938, at Ainsworth, Kan.

They ranched west of Keeline until 1947. He then became postmaster at Keeline and remained in that capacity for 27 years. He served as president of the Wyoming State Postmasters Association in 1958. He drove a school bus for 30 years. He retired in 1970 after suffering his first heart attack. He continued to live in Keeline until his death.

He was a member of the Retired Postmasters Association and was a deacon for the First Baptist Church of Lusk.

He is survived by his wife, Vesta of Keeline; a son, Wayne Lee of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, LaDonna Schmidt of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Helen Kane of Douglas; a brother, Frank of Tucson, Ariz., and a sister, Hazel Hayford of Tucson. He was preceded in death by a daughter.

The Rev. Scott Grimshaw officiated at memorial services Dec. 26 at First Baptist Church. Burial was in Lusk Cemetery.
