Frank Taylor, 80, Dies Sunday

William Frank Taylor, 80, of Lusk, died early Sunday morning at the Torrington hospital. Funeral services were conducted this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk. The Rev. Frank Bozart of Edgerton, Wyo., officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Robert Reichert, soloist, as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me."

Casket bearers were Richard Lenz, Lee James, Ralph Sides, Joe Pfister, Everett Kilmer and Don McConaughey.

Military honors conducted by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars were held at the graveside, with Teddy Stratton of Lance Creek as bugler.

Mr. Taylor was the son of Edgar W. and Dollie E. Taylor, born September 30, 1889, at Smithland, Iowa. He grew to manhood and attended schools in Woodberry, Iowa. When 21 he entered business with his father in a livery stable at Sioux City, Iowa. In 1915 the family moved to Brown County, Neb. He entered the U.S. Army, June 24, 1918, at Ainsworth, Neb., and served in France. He was discharged, July 17, 1919.

He married Elvira P. Smith at Johnstown, Neb. January 4, 1920. They lived on several ranches near Johnstown until the fall of 1921 when they moved on a ranch at Andrews, Neb. In 1926 they moved to a ranch northwest of Harrison, Neb. In March of 1932 they moved to the home ranch northeast of Lusk on the Divide where they lived until the fall of 1956 when he retired from ranching and moved into Lusk. He was caretaker for the Lusk Cemetery for 10 years and was noted for the pride he took in his work.

Mr. Taylor served in many capacities in 4-H work, was a member of V.F.W., serving as commander the past year, and a member of the American Legion.

His parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters died previously. Survivors include two sons, Ray of Lusk and Don of Aztec, N. Mex.; one daughter Mrs. Francis Johnson of Lusk; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Rasmussen of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Opal Smith of Huron, S. Dak.; two brothers, Lester and Leonard of Harrison, Neb.; and 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
