William Tadewald Dies Here Friday

William C. Tadewald, 75, of Torrington, died Friday morning in the Spencer Hospital from a malignancy. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb officiating. Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Holcomb sang "In the Land Where We'll Never Grow Old" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Active pallbearers were Walter Schnorenberg, Sr., Ford Porter, Otto Vondra, Andrew McMaster, Harry Burnham and Nyal Siemsen. Honorary pallbearers were Archie Voorhees, William Brunckhorst, John Siemsen, Fred Bryant, F. T. Price and Fay Stiles.

William Charles Tadewald was born December 3, 1882 in Muscatine, Ia., the son of Herman and Mildred Tadewald. Here he received his education and learned the plumbing trade.

He came west in 1909 and homesteaded southwest of Van Tassell working for a time at the George Voorhees ranch. He married Miss Mary Schurk on June 25, 1913 at Van Tassell. They were the parents of three children.

He and Mrs. Tadewald retired from ranching in 1949 and moved to Mitchell, Nebr. where they made their home until two years ago when they purchased a home in Torrington.

His health began to fail about six months ago and he grew steadily worse. He finally submitted to surgery but failed to recover.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mrs. Anna Mae Walson of Newport, Wash., and two sons, Bernard of Casper and Herbert of Van Tassell. Ten grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Helen Mucha and Mrs. Mildred Heussner; two brothers, Herman and Earnest Tadewald, all of Muscatine, Ia. also survive. His parents, three sisters and two brothers previously died.
