Fred W. Sullivan, Jr.

Funeral services for Fred W. Sullivan, Jr. were held Thursday, August 24, 1995, at Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Chan Bayne officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

On August 20, 1995, Fred W. Sullivan, Jr. passed away at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo. after a long illness. He was the son of the late Fred W. Sullivan, Sr. and Elizabeth Aldrige Sullivan.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1924 at Maynard, Mass. and lived there until age 12 when the family moved to Farmington, New Hampshire. He finished his education in Farmington and went to work as a MacCay stitcher in the Somersworth Shoe Factory in Somersworth, N.H. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in July, 1945 and shipped overseas in January, 1946. He served with the European Occupation and was stationed in Berlin Germany until August 1947.

He met his wife, Margot, soon after he arrived in Berlin. They were married in Berlin on July 26, 1947. Fred returned to the states in August 1947 and was discharged. His wife joined him October 18, 1947 and they lived in New Hampshire until September 1949. Their oldest son Jim was born in 1948. In September 1949 the three of them moved to Lusk and made their home in Lusk for 45 years. They had two more children, Renee and Mike, both born and raised in Lusk.

Fred worked as a carpenter for the late Herman Thayer. He also worked for Safeway and Ringsby Trucking. In October 1953 he entered the Post Office in Lusk as a window clerk until he completed 23 years. On July 17, 1976 he became the Postmaster of the Manville Post Office. Fred retired from this position on June 1, 1988. Fred was a member of the Christian Alliance Church in Manville. He was a member of the American Legion for 31 years and a member of the Elks Lodge for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Margot who resides in Yuma, Ariz.; his children, James of Denver, Colo., Renee of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mike of Cheyenne; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, and Heide Sullivan and B.J. and Mantha Lorenzen. Also surviving are four sisters, Genevieve Connacher of Devon, Conn., Lila Langis of Peabody, Mass., Judy Jennewein of Yuma, Ariz., and Linda Bayne of Wheatland; one brother, James Sullivan of Pinetop, Ariz.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred and Margot just celebrated their 48th anniversary in Yuma, Ariz. on July 26, 1995. Fred was a very loving, caring and happy-go-lucky person who enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be missed very much by his family and friends.

The family requests donations be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the Lung Assoc. or the Lusk Senior Center of which he was a board member.
