Mildred Mary Miller, age 87, passed away Jan. 13, 2007 at the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk. Funeral services will be held Jan. 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, Pastor Mark Lohr officiating. Interment will follow at the Lusk Cemetery.
She was born on her parent's ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills, Cherry County, Neb., and grew to womanhood there and in Crawford, Neb. She was educated in the Crawford public schools.
She married Alex Miller on July 1, 1936 in Whitney, Neb. They were married for 49 years before he passed away in April 1985. They resided at various places in western Nebraska before moving to Lusk in June 1949, where they resided for the remainder of their lives.
Mildred was devoted to her husband and family of five children, taking great joy in her home, her flower garden, and her church. She taught Sunday School for many years, and used her musical talents as a pianist and choir member. She was an ardent seamstress; sewing for her family and for many years enjoyed the art of quilting.
Survivors include her daughter Jeanette Gleed and her husband Gordon of Rapid City, S.D., son Bruce Miller and wife Husheng of Norwalk, Calif., daughter Connie Merchen and husband David of Rapid City, S.D., daughter Charlene Miller of Lusk, son Jerry Miller of Lusk, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Myrtle Iliff and her husband Leonard of Council Bluffs, IA, and Erma Whitney and her husband Roger of West Linn, Ore., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Niobrara Health and Life Center, PO Box 780, Lusk WY 82225. Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
