Johnnie J Rummell, 69, was born Aug. 9, 1937 in Henry, Neb., the son of John and Hallie (Flynn) Rummell. He started school in Prairie Center before moving to Torrington where he finished school. He worked various jobs in the area. He married Virginia Carr on July 5, 1958 in Torrington. He started his career in auto body repair and worked for Deluxe Auto Body in Torrington. Johnnie served in the Wyoming Army National Guard. He owned and operated his own auto body shops in Saratoga and Lusk before settling in Torrington due to ill health. He died at his home on Jan. 14, 2007.
Johnnie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to help others. He made oak furniture for his family. He loved to hunt and fish, collect antiques and spending time with his family and at family gatherings.
Johnnie is survived by his wife Virginia of Torrington; a daughter Tracy Flock and her husband Kevin of Torrington; a son Terry Rummell and his wife Casi of Saratoga; a grandson, Nathan Cook and his wife Stacey of Torrington; three granddaughters, Lauren Correa and her husband Luis, April Cook, and Michelle Cook all of Torrington; and three great granddaughters, Corie, Madison, and Autumn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.
A memorial reception was held Jan. 17 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church Parlor in Torrington.
A memorial has been established to 4-H Shooting Sports.
