Alva Stetson Dies Monday
Alva F. Stetson, 72, Lusk, died July 11 at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. Funeral service under the arrangements of Peet Mortuary, was held this Wednesday afternoon at the Open Bible Church of Lusk at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverends Allen Page of Lusk and Frank Bozart of Edgerton officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was pianist and accompanied Lee Johnsonbaugh, Harry Lyon, Mrs. Robert Bramlet and Mrs. Hobart Cockreham as they sang "I Belong to the King" and "Beyond The Sunset."
Casket bearers were Wayne Heckert, Lloyd Coleman, Mike Hammer, Mick Coen, Ted Lohr, and Henry Meyers.
Honorary bearers were Vic Centers, Cliff Cox, Albert Ruffing, Henry Herbers, Clifford Ferris and Doug Sides.
He was born October 19, 1898 to Isaiah and Carrie Gould Stetson at Crawford, Nebr. He attended schools in Crawford and grew into manhood in that area. As a young man he worked for a few years as a mechanic and in 1927 was employed by the Nebraska Highway Department. In 1941 he was employed by the Wyoming Highway Department where he worked until he retired in 1965.
He was married to Gemila Hall, August 21, 1935 at Chadron. They have made their home in Lusk since 1941. He was a faithful member of the Open Bible Church.
His parents, two brothers and three sisters died previously.
Survivors include his widow, Gemila of the family home; one son, Keith of Casper; two grandchildren, Keith Wayne Jr. and Krystal of Casper; one sister, Ethel Layton of Salem, Ore. and numerous relatives.
