Hazel Gemila Stetson
A funeral service for Hazel Gemila Stetson, age 88, of Lusk, was held June 9, 2003, at the Congregational Church in Lusk, with Rev. Merrill Lanker officiating. Interment followed in the Lusk Cemetery.
Gemila Stetson died June 4, 2003 in Douglas.
Gemila was born April 16, 1915, at Harrison, Neb. to Burtis Wayne and Hazel Pullen Hall. She graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison in 1934.
She married Alva (Bill) Stetson on Aug. 21, 1935 in the Methodist Church at Harrison. They had one son, Keith Wayne Stetson, born on Nov. 26, 1936.
Gemila entered beauty school in 1941. This was the beginning of a life long career.
She was baptized in the Open Bible Church on Aug. 18, 1962, and joined by faith, the Lusk Congregational United Church of Christ. Gemila was a very private person with a deep conviction for her faith. She assumed the caretaker position for family, friends, and her church.
Survivors include her son, Keith and his wife Barbara; one grandson, Keith Wayne; one granddaughter Krystal; and one great-granddaughter, Kyssandra; all of Casper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Wanda Maxine Engebretsen, Arlene Elizabeth Leggett and Velma Hall Bowman; two brothers, Harry Hall, and an infant brother.
Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
