Service in Edgemont for Lillie Smith
Funeral service for Lillie L. Smith, 87, was held at the VandeBossche Chapel In Edgemont, S. D., at 2:00 p.m. January 25. Mrs. Smith died at the Chadron Hospital January 20.
The service was conducted by Bobby Fisher, a high priest of the Mormon Church and a grandson of Mrs. Smith and casket bearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Lillie Louisa McEvers was born June 5, 1886, in Little Sioux, Harrison County, Iowa, to Charles Edward and Barbara Anna Kress McEvers.
She married Minis John Henry Smith September 7, 1902, in Iowa. They moved to Wyoming in 1919 and homesteaded in Niobrara County. Mr. Smith died Nov. 13, 1951.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Eva Evans, Edgemont; Mrs. Ethel Morris, Milton-Freewater, Ore., Mrs. Esther Morris, Chadron, Neb. and Mrs. Bill (Ella) Williams, Mesa, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and some great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, a son, Everett and an infant daughter died previously.
Attending the service from Lusk were a grandson, Kester Akers, Mrs. Akers, Rob and Debra and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Klemke.
