Fenton Skillings Dies in Cheyenne

Fenton Skillings, 52, prominent Lance Creek resident, died Sunday in DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Dean Long sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and Miss Margaret Lee sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. Lester Meade was organist.

Pallbearers were Henry Stiles, Bill Croft, Bob Burgess, Willis Rich, Ed Wolverton and Jimmy Rodgers.

Fenton Pierre Skillings was born February 15, 1906 at Geddes, S. D. the son of Jennie and Irven Skillings. For some years he lived in South Dakota and Nebraska. He came to Van Tassell in 1914 and later made his home in Manville where he received most of his education.

On January 28, 1928, he married Marguerite Hoyt. They had two sons, Fenton James and Irven Archie. For a number of years the family lived on a farm at Keeline. In 1934 Mr. Skillings took a job with the Ohio Oil Company where he has been employed since. He became ill in May.

Survivors include his wife and two sons are two sisters, Mrs. Glen Meeker, Hilsboro, Ore.; Mrs. Dick Penrod, Montebello, Calif.; two brothers, Charley Skillings, Corvallis, Ore.; and Marvin Skillings, Lance Creek.
