Violet Sparks Shaber dies in Reno hospital

Violet Shaber died February 1 in St. Mary's Hospital, Reno, Nev., following a lengthy illness.

Violet Sparks Shaber was born on July 15, 1913, at the family home in Royal Valley, south of Lusk, to Archie and Francis Sparks. She received her elementary education in Royal Valley, graduated from Lusk High School in 1931 and attended the University Of Wyoming for two years.

After attending the University, Miss Sparks went to Miami, Fla., where she lived with a sister, Tillie Roley, and started working for a telephone company. She was with the company over 20 years, transferring from Miami to Chicago.

She left Chicago in 1954 to do secretarial work in California. In September 1961, she and Steve Shaber were married in Reno, Nev., where they made their home.

Mrs. Shaber is survived by her husband of Reno; brother Julius Sparks of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters Tillie Roley, Melbourne, Fla.; Mae (Mrs. Bus) Gautschi of Casper and Thelma Carlisle of Lusk; a cousin, Bernice Cowell, Lusk..

The remains were cremated in Nevada. Memorials may be directed to the Stagecoach Museum, Lusk, or the charity of your choice, is the wish of the family.
