Coreen Frances Rainey Bafford
Services for Coreen Frances Rainey Bafford, age 72, were held Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the Congregational Church with Rev. Allen Kallenbach officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Bafford died Sunday, Oct. 21, at her home in Lusk. She was born June 26, 1918, in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of John and Ruth Rainey.
She graduated from high school in Glenrock, Wyo., in1936. She then took her first secretarial job in Glenrock. She continued in this profession through most of her life, holding down jobs in Douglas, Denver, Colo., Washington D.C., Alaska and Salt Lake City, Utah, through the end of World War II.
On November 22, 1945, she married Regnald C. Bafford in Salt Lake City, a young man she'd met before the war in Douglas. They first lived in Newcastle, then moved to Lusk, where they owned and operated the Niobrara Abstract and Title Co., where she worked until 1974. In 1965 she began working also at Stockman's National Bank, where she worked until 1974 when she retired.
She was active in the Congregational Church in Lusk, holding many positions there such as treasurer and choir member. She was active in many other organizations, including Eastern Star, P.E.O., AARP and the Niobrara Senior Center. She was also an avid reader and did many crossword puzzles. She loved singing alto in the church choir and also loved knitting. One of her many accomplishments was the writing of her life story, which has provided many family members and friends with interesting facts about her colorful life, some of which were never known before this writing.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother, a good friend to many. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reg, a daughter, Robin, her parents, and a brother, Ike Rainey.
Survivors include two sons; G. Michael of Kristianstad, Sweden; and Rick of Statesville, N.C., four grandchildren, Nikki and Erik of North Carolina and Tobias and Emma of Sweden; five sisters; Mildred Matthies of Glenrock; Helen Davis of Lusk; Pauline Deyo of Centralia, Wash.; Mary Rock of Casper; Betty Hansen of Arvada, Colo.; two brothers; John Rainey of Billings, Mont.; and Robert Rainey of Rock Springs; plus many other relatives and friends.
