Edna E. Scheer
Edna E. Scheer, former hospital administrator at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital, died October 31 at the Niobrara nursing home, following a long illness.
She was born May 11, 1919, at Wing, N.D., the daughter of Arvid and Elizabeth (Boss) Roos. She moved with her parents to Braddock, N.D., and later to Hazelton, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Nursing School at Devils Lake, N.D., and attended the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis. Mrs. Scheer later studied anesthesiology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and worked as a registered nurse at Casper for several years.
On April 4, 1959, she married Arthur Scheer at Lusk and was the hospital administrator and a nurse anesthetist at the Niobrara County Hospital in Lusk for 14 years. In 1967, she moved to Torrington where she worked as a registered nurse until 1970 when she retired due to ill health.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington.
Funeral service was this Monday at The Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington with the Rev. Marvin L. Temme officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.
Mrs. Scheer was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Arthur, Torrington; two sons, Dr. Gerald Baker, Gillette, and James A Scheer, Torrington; three step-daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Nadine) Page, Torrington, Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Nichol, Lingle, and Ms. Abby Davis of Denver; two brothers, Leonard Roos of Vancouver, Wa., and Rudolph Roos, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Eino (Lillian) Jutila of Vancouver, and Mrs. Ken (Mamie) Schuman of Winner, S.D. and by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
