Ross Barnes Dies At Ranch Home
Ross Barnes, rancher some 20 miles northwest of Lance Creek, died Tuesday evening at the ranch home.
A neighbor took word into Douglas, but since the ranch buildings and Mr. Barnes death occurred just over the county line in Niobrara and he had not been attended by a physician, it was necessary to call Niobrara Coroner Earl Peet.
Walther Doctor was taking the Peet ambulance to the Manning ranch west of Lance Creek Wednesday morning, and the ranch was to take him on by 4-wheel drive vehicle to the Barnes ranch to get the body. There are no main roads from the Niobrara County side to the ranch and rains have made any travel difficult.
It is understood that Mrs. Barnes was at the ranch with her husband at the time of his death, but no further information was available at The Herald press time. Mr. Barnes is the father of Mrs. Robert Wallis of Lusk.
