Funeral Services for Betty Kinchen, 80-year-old former Kaycee woman who passed away Saturday at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, were held Wed, Dec 13 at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend Dana Lohse officiating. Burial was in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Elizabeth Ruth Kinchen was born on Nov. 30, 1926 in Kaycee to H.N. and Clara Thompson. She grew up and went to school in Kaycee and graduated from Kaycee High school. After high school she attended Casper College for two years before transferring to the University of Wyoming where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. Betty went on to get a master's in education from the University of Wyoming. She married Otto Kinchen in 1954 and they were later divorced.
Betty took a teaching position and spent over 30 years teaching business at the Kaycee High School. She retired in the late 1980's and continued living in Kaycee until 1999 when she moved to Lusk to be near her son. She had been a resident of the Douglas Care Center for the past five years. Betty loved traveling, spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
She is survived by one son, John Kinchen and his wife Tana of Lusk, Wyo. and two grandsons, Taylor and Joe Kinchen, both of Lusk. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
