Death came quietly to Mrs. Hannah E. Rumney, wife of Edward Rumney of this city, at 11:15 Wednesday morning, July 13th, at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital where she had been taken the previous evening following a heart attack she suffered at her home.
Concluding rites were held at 2:00 p.m. July 16, from the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home with Rev. Theodore Foster, pastor of St. George's Episcopal Church of Lusk officiating. Two selections, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Rock of Ages" were beautifully sung by Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Miss Neoma Taylor and Dr. Richard Collins, with Mrs. Judson P. Watson presiding at the organ.
Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery with the remains being borne to their final resting place by Harold Hammell, Leonard Sedgwick, Jim Robinson, Tom Hammell, Chas. N. Hanson, and Sam Rennard. Honorary members were Fred Campbell, William Hanson, Charles Hanson, William Spencer, Ray Sutherland, Andy Sedgwick and James Hammell, all neighbors and friends of the deceased and her family.
Hannah Elizabeth Rumney, daughter of Joshua and Sarah (Lloyd) Wilson was born at Rochdale, England January 24, 1876 and departed this life Wednesday, July 13, 1955 at Lusk, Wyoming. At the time of her demise she was 79 years, five months and 19 days of age.
In 1909, she left her native England to come to the United States traveling to Edgemont, So. Dak., where she was met by her husband-to-be Edward Rumney who had preceded her to the states. The couple were married April 17, 1909 at Hot Springs, So. Dakota and made their home on Mr. Rumney's homestead located on Lance Creek in northeastern Niobrara County, Wyoming. To this union were born two children, James and Mary.
Mr. and Mrs. Rumney made their home on the homestead for more than 40 years, during the time developing it into a fine ranch. Ten years ago they retired from active ranching and farming and moved to Lusk to make their home, residing on West Third Street.
Mrs. Rumney had acquired a host of friends during her life span and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of the Edgemont Chapter No. 127, Order of Eastern Star of Edgemont, So. Dak. and of St. George's Episcopal Church of Lusk.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Rumney of this city, one son, James E. Rumney of Edgemont, So. Dak., a daughter, Mrs. Julius Peterson of Lance Creek and seven grandchildren, Raymond, James, Betty Jean and Dean Rumney, all of Edgemont and Paul, Clyde, and Stephen Peterson of Lance Creek.

Mrs. Ed Rumney Dies in Lusk Wed. Morning
Mrs. Edward Rumney, 79, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital at 11 a.m. this Wednesday morning. She was admitted to the hospital about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night following a sudden illness. Mrs. Rumney has been in poor health for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Rumney; one son, Edward, Jr., living on a ranch north of Lusk in the Cheyenne River area; and one daughter, Mrs. Julius Peterson, north of Lance Creek.
Funeral arrangements were still indefinite at The Herald's press time Wednesday.

Funeral Services For Mrs. Rumney Held Here Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Rumney, 79, who died at the Niobrara Memorial hospital at 11:15 a.m., July 13, were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Peet Chapel. Rev. Theodore Foster, rector of St. George's Episcopal church, officiated.
Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Miss Neoma Taylor and Dr. R. W. Collins sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God To Thee" accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson, organist.
Honorary pall-bearers were: Fred Campbell, William Hanson, Charles Hanson, William Spenser, Roy Sutherland and Andy Sedgwick. Active pallbearers were: Harold Hammell, Tom Hammell, Jim Robinson, Jim Meng, Sam Rennard and Leonard Sedgwick. Interment was in the Lusk cemetery with the Peet Mortuary in charge.
Hannah Elizabeth Rumney was born in Rochdale, England, January 24, 1876, daughter of Joshua and Sarah Lloyd Wilson and was married to Edward Rumney in England. Mr. Rumney came to Wyoming in 1905 and homesteaded on Lance Creek in the Cheyenne River area in 1908. In 1909 she joined him and they continued to live on the ranch until December, 1944, when they moved to Lusk.
Mrs. Rumney was active in community affairs until failing health limited her activities. For the past two years she has been an invalid.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Rumney; a son, James Edward on the home ranch; a daughter, Mrs. Julius Peterson, who lives north of Lance Creek, seven grandchildren; Raymond, James, Betty Jean and Dean Rumney and Paul, Clyde and Steven Peterson.
