Charles Edward Ruffing

Services for Charles Edward Ruffing of Hyattville were held March 24, 1988 at the Hyattville Gymnasium. The Rev. Jim Heikes officiated. Burial was in the Hyattville Cemetery. He died March 20, 1988 at his home.

Ruffing was born May 12, 1907 in Mount Rose, NE, the son of Christ and Gertrude Ruffing. He moved with his family to Hat Creek in 1907 and graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1926.

After attending the University of Wyoming, he worked as a beekeeper in Wheatland and Lander until moving to Worland in 1935 to serve as a bee inspector for the state. He moved to Basin-Hyattville region in 1940 and served as the water commissioner in Hyattville for 15 years.

On July 12, 1931 he married Irene Burkholder in Hot Springs, SD.

Survivors include his wife, Irene of Hyattville; four sons, Charles of Nampa, ID, Norman of Tananger, Norway, Jim of Hyattville and Bill of Belleview, FA; two daughters, Kay Olson of Worland and Sherry Brewster of Ten Sleep. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob of Ontario, OR and Jennings of Lusk; two sisters Beatrice Avenall of Thermopolis and Monica Erny of Alliance, NE; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the First National Bank in Worland or Security State Bank in Basin.
