John Lawrence Rising
John Rising Is Laid To Rest
John Lawrence Rising, who died at his home in Van Tassell on April 16, was born July 12, 1920, in Box Butte County, Nebr.; the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rising.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946, and was married to Ila Coil on June 26, 1944 in Chadron. He worked on ranches in this area most of his life and loved working with cattle and horses. The past three years had been spent on a ranch near Van Tassell.
Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Dorothy and Sandra; one son, Robert Earl who is presently serving in the U.S. Army at Ft. Bliss, Tex.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rising of Marsland; one sister, Doris Hamaker, Crawford; three brothers, Marvin and Keal of Crawford and Wilbur of Marsland. One daughter, Darlene Sue and an infant son, Jimmy John, and a sister Eva Irene died previously.
Funeral services were held April 19 at the Crawford Methodist Church with Rev. Leon Foster officiating. Burial was in the Marsland Cemetery.
