Tye Brian Rennard

Seven- year-old Tye Brian Rennard of Mule Creek Junction died Friday, Aug. 30, 1985, in a pedestrian-pickup accident near the Cheyenne River School in northern Niobrara County.

Tye's Story

Tye Brian Rennard was born Oct. 1, 1977, in Newcastle, Wyo., the second child of Stan and Marlene Rennard. He lived on the family ranch at Mule Creek Junction, and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the country life. He learned to ride on his Mom's old Shetland mare, Peanuts, and then graduated to his dad's rope horse, Buck, and later to his sister, Jennifer's horses, Misty and Bo. Many hours during his life were spent playing with his kittens and the family dogs, Pepper, Grande and Boots.

Tye loved people and never really knew any strangers. He was eager to help anyone and could visit with everyone. He loved to share everything he had with his family and friends.

Tye liked to build things, whether it be a "playhouse like Will's" with Jennifer, or a stool for the fairgrounds drinking fountain with Grandad Black. He loved to visit Grandma and Granddad Black and would eat fresh peas and carrots from their garden, or make tunnels in their snowdrifts.

He liked to visit Grandma and Grandpa Rennard's house almost daily and would good-naturedly beat them at a game of Uno or pool.

Tye liked to sleep in late, except on Saturdays when he would faithfully tiptoe out and turn on the cartoons. And he loved to go with his dad to work cattle, check water, or just look around the pastures.

The time of his birthday was doubly special to Tye because each year he anxiously awaited the arrival of the family's regular deer and antelope hunters.

Tye went to Cheyenne River School for kindergarten and first grade and also attended Sunday School at the same rural school building. God gave him a special talent for memorizing Bible verses and for understanding the meanings. He learned John 14: 1-3, in which Jesus says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it is not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."

And Tye did know the way to Heaven. He knew that it wasn't necessary to go to church or to live a perfect life to be with Jesus. In the summer of 1983, he prayed with Jennifer to ask Jesus into his heart. Then in May of 1985, he attended a program of the Don Anders Family in Newcastle, Wyo. On the way home, he said, "Mom did you pray with that man?" Marlene said she did and Tye responded that he had too, and now he wouldn't have to wait until Vacation Bible School to pray with the teachers, so at the age of seven, he recommitted his life to the Lord and was always thankful for God's love.

Tye knew what was meant by the "peace that passes understanding" and we know that he rests in peace now.

Tye is survived by his parents, Stan and Marlene Rennard; his sister, Jennifer; and grandparents, Sam and Vivian Rennard, all of Mule Creek Junction; grandparents Speck and Mabel Black, an aunt and uncle, Cheryll and Carl Christianson, all of Lusk; and aunt Shirley Black of Laramie; and an aunt, Carol Sutherland of Cheyenne and many friends.
