Harold "Bus" Gautschi

Masonic services for Harold "Bus" Gautschi, 84, will be at the Casper Shrine Club Friday, Jan. 3, 1996 at 3 p.m.

A memorial service will be at the Congregational Church, UCC, in Lusk on Jan.5, at 2 p.m.

He died of cancer at his daughter's home in Ft. Worth, Texas, on Dec. 25, 1996; cremation took place in Ft. Worth. Memorials are to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, Virginia St at Fairfax, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103, or to Lusk Harmony Lodge #24, in lieu of flowers.

He was born in Lusk Sept. 24, 1912, to Hans and Jennie (Gager) Gautschi.

The family later opened a general store in Manville, where he graduated from Manville High School.

He then worked with his father operating the Standard Oil Station in Lusk until 1971 when he moved to Casper to work for the State of Wyoming Division of Workers Compensation. He retired in 1980 in Casper.

He married Wyoma Mae Sparks in 1936. The couple recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. He was the father of two children, Charles Leslie and Laraine Mae.

As the activity driver for the Niobrara County High School, he was a father figure for many young athletes who respected his advice and understood the importance of discipline in their lives through his role-modeling.

He loved sports of all kinds and was an avid golfer.

While living in Lusk, he was president of the Lions Club and the Niobrara Country Club, Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, Associate Guardian for Jobs Daughters, Worshipful Master of Harmony Lodge #24 A.F. & A.M., a 33 Degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, member of the BPO Elks Lodge # 1797 and member of the Congregational Church. He served in the Wyoming State Guard during World War II and was a member of the volunteer fire department.

In Casper, he was president of the Casper Shrine Club and a member of the Korein Temple of Rawlins. He was a cherished member of the Shrine Oriental Band for 25 years.

He was dedicated to the cause of the Shriner's Children's Hospitals.

Survivors include his wife; daughter Laraine Goold; and grandchildren Chris Goold of Hamburg, Germany, Kevin Goold of Los Angeles and Katie Goold of Ft. Worth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; brother Charles Robert; and sister Frances.
