She died Nov. 4 at the Niobrara Community Hospital. She was born July 23, 1904, in Omaha, Neb., to Charles and Anna Blomquist. She was the fourth of seven children. In 1910 her family came by train to Wyoming to homestead 640 acres in the LaPrele Basin. She attended grade school and also taught in the Pleasant Valley school which was three miles from their farm and is now next to the museum at the State Fair Grounds in Douglas. In 1917, she along with her sisters Ruth and Evaleen and brother Rudolph started high school in Douglas, staying in town during the week. She took Normal training in high school and summer school, eventually teaching elementary grades in Douglas. On June 24, 1931, she married Walter N. Reed who was a handsome rancher from Niobrara County. They first lived on the Rawhide Ranch owned by John Agnew and later moved to the "77" Ranch. They had two sons, Walter and Samuel (Bebe). Due to the untimely death of her husband in May 1945, she and the boys moved from the "77" ranch to Douglas and made their home with her mother. She remodeled this home and lived there until 1986 when she moved to the Payne Plaza in Douglas. In 1989 she moved to Lusk, where her sons and their families lived. The LaPrele Homemakers Club, the Retired Teachers and the Christ Episcopal Church were a big part of her life in later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Walter, brothers Arthur and Rudolph, and sisters Esther Blomquist, Ruth Huntzinger and Evaleen Willox.
Survivors include son Bebe and his wife Merna and their four children, Dawn, Roxie, Tye and Noni; son Walter's children, Dory, Walt, Randy and Susan; and nine great-grandchildren; sister Violet Potter of Laguna Hills, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Betty Blomquist of Longmont, Colo., Derece Reed of Belle Fourche, S.D., Bernice Reed of Lusk and Fay Russell of Tyler, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
