Dean E. Ray
A memorial mass for Dean E. Ray, 55, was celebrated Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Casper with Rev. Gary Ruzicka as celebrant.
Ray died Jan. 30, 1991 at the Wyoming Medical Center from injuries sustained in an oil field accident. He was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Torrington to Dee E, and Isabelle (Hathaway) Ray. He was raised in Lance Creek on the family ranch and attended local grade schools. In 1949, he moved to Newcastle where he graduated from high school in 1953.
On June 5, 1955 he married Ruth Ann Ellis in Newcastle.
In the early 1960's he was employed by Farm Bureau Insurance agency manager with the company. From 1973 through 1976, he owned and operated Ray's Music in Worland. He transferred to Casper in 1983 with Haliburton.
In 1986, he entered the real estate field with Barnard Realty and in 1988, he returned to the oil field with Nowcam.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Larry Ray; one daughter, Mrs. Russ (Lana) Sandercock; and five grandchildren, all of Casper. Other survivors include two brothers; Jack D. Ray of Great Falls, Mont., and C. Keith Ray of Bakersfield, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ila.
Cremation has taken place. Flowers or memorials to the Blue Envelope Health Fund would be equally appreciated by the family. Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
