Ruth E. Rainey

Ruth E. Rainey, 91, was born October 9, 1892 in Newburg, Ark., the daughter of William and Martha Norton.

On May 22, 1910 she was married to John Clinton Rainey in Hyer, New Mex. They lived in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma, moving in 1933 to Glenrock, where they lived until retirement. They then spent summers in Wyoming and winters in Brownsville, Texas.

Following the death of her husband in 1963, Mrs. Rainey made her home in Lusk. She died April 17 at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital. Survivors include two sons, John of Billings, Mont. and Robert of Rock Springs; six daughters, Mildred Matthies of Glenrock, Helen Davis and Coreen Bafford of Lusk, Pauline Deyo of Centralia, Wash., Mary Rock of Casper and Betty Jean Hanson of Arvada, Colo.; 32 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, and infant daughter, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Congregational Church Organ Fund will be appreciated by the family.

Services were conducted at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk, April 21, 1984 with Rev. John Stensrud officiating. Music was provided by Edna DeCastro, organist and Polly Johnson, Marilyn Pennington and Gayleen Percival who sang, "In The Garden" and "Rock of Ages."

Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons, Danny Davis, Richard Bafford, Ronald L. Cole, Donald Davis, Martin Blackburn and Wade Davis.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
