Last Rites Held for W. H. Potter
Funeral services for Wilbur H. Potter, 55, of LaCrosse, Wash., formerly of Lusk, were held April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Sidney, Mont., with the Rev. Patrick Sampson officiating. Burial was in Memorial Sunset Gardens. He was killed April 8, near Larosse when a tractor tipped off a flatbed trailer as it was being loaded.
Casket bearers were Ronald Gross, Norman Swanson, Gerald Asplund, David Schultz, Richard Thompson, Jr., and Dallas Wisehaupt. Vocal selections were "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "The Lord's Prayer."
He was born at Granville, N. D. June 7, 1914, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Potter. He received elementary education in Granville and graduated from high school at Lansford, N.D. He came to Sidney, Mont. in 1936 and worked in that area until entering the U.S. Army at the beginning of World War II. On July 19, 1943, he and Evelyn Gross were married, at Payne Field, Wash. He served in the European Theatre and on his discharge from the army in October of 1945 he went to Minot, N.D. where he worked for Interstate Bus Company. He entered the trucking business in Edgemont, S. D. in 1951, and moved to Lusk in 1954. He continued to operate a trucking concern until moving to Pasco, Wash. in1967. Last year the family moved to LaCrosse.
Survivors include his widow, Evelyn of LaCrosse; three sons, Tom of the family home, W. H. Jr. of Saigon, Vietnam, and Kenneth of Laramie, Wyo.; one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Thon of Jeffrey City, Wyo.; his mother, Mrs. Carl Behrens of Minot, S. D.; one brother, Harold W. of Seattle, Wash.; seven sisters, Mrs. Myra Thompson of Terry, Mont., Mrs. Marie Asplund of Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Ruth Schultz of Sidney, Mont., Mrs. Arla Quick of Stromsberg, Nebr., Mrs. Evelyn Woodkey of Twisp, Wash., Mrs. Kathryn Vikiras of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Ethel Sobolik of Sidney; and one grandson, Ronald F. Potter of Laramie.
