Mrs. Porter Dies Christmas

Marie A. Porter, 83, died Christmas at a hospital in Scottsbluff, following an extended illness. She was formerly of the Lusk area and lived for many years in Jay Em.

Funeral services were held last Thursday at the Forest Mound Chapel of Jay Em, with Philip King officiating. Burial was at Jay Em.

Mrs. Philip King, pianist, furnished music and accompanied Mrs. Dorothy Fritz as she sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me."

Casket bearers were Bing Baar, Mark Harris, Jim Harris, Roy Turnbull, Leroy Grapes, and Eugene Tyrrel. Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington made the arrangements.

Marie A. Windshiemer was the daughter of Michael and Margaret Lang Windshiemer and was born October 14, 1884, at Boone, Iowa. At the age of two she moved with her family to Lodge Pole, Neb., where she grew to womanhood.

She married Rolla Porter, November 15, 1908, at Bridgeport, Nebr. She and her husband made their home in Lusk and Jay Em, where they engaged in ranching and later operating the lumber and grocery business in Jay Em for many years.

Her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters died previously.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Emma Beebe of Nampa, Ida.; three brothers, William Windshiemer, Gurley, Nebr.; Fred Windshiemer, Ft. Morgan, Colo.; and John Windshiemer of Hatfield, Ark.
