Services for James S. Porter Held in Fort Collins Oct 9
Funeral services for James S. Porter, 98, of Fort Collins, Colo., who died October 6 from a lingering illness, were conducted from the Warren Funeral Chapel last Thursday. The Rev. M. R. Siemens officiated. Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery.
He was born in Jeffersonville, Ill., October 2, 1871. He had been an engineer at Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital for 11 years.
He was first married to Mrs. Minnie Weldon Porter in Loup City, Neb. in 1899. He later married Mrs. Grace Webser Porter who died in 1957.
He lived in Fort Collins since 1926. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America
He has been a resident of the Eventide Rest Home for the past 11 years.
Survivors are eight daughters by his first wife, Minnie, they are Mrs. Floy Douglas, Alliance, Nebr., Mrs. Lola Blackmore, Fort Collins; Mrs. Pauline Fernau, Lusk; Mrs. Dorothy Hockett, Gillette, Wyo., Mrs. Mayme Cox, Mrs. Opal Yates, Mrs. Billie Clark, and Mrs. Peggy Kraus, all of San Diego, Calif.. Also surviving are thirty grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. In all he leaves 109 descendants.
Attending the services from Lusk were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fernau, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fernau, Jr. and family.
Mrs. Mayume Cox and Mrs. Peggy Kraus returned to Lusk and are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fernau, Sr.
