Edith Ann Poole, age 96, died at Community Hospital in Torrington, June 22, 2002. Burial in Valley View Cemetery has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Edith Poole was born Aug. 18, 1905, at New Haven Wyo. the daughter of Curtis and Jessie (Wilson) Clark. She attended schools at New Haven, Gillette and Spearfish, S.D.
In 1924 she married Lyle Poole in Sheridan. They moved to Torrington in 1928 and owned and operated Torrington Plumbing and Heating for 50 years. She taught school in Moorcroft and Huntley for several years and was the bookkeeper at Torrington Plumbing and Heating.
She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. She served as District President of the Auxiliary and at the time of her death was the oldest member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wyoming.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving, unselfish and generous mother, aunt and grandmother. She was known to family and friends as Gram Poole.
She is survived by two sisters, Lydia Schnoor of Torrington and Helen Cates of Sheridan; three foster daughters, Letha Bible and Glenna Madden of Lusk, and Helen Brummell of Torrington; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister. A memorial has been established to Land of Goshen Ministries.
