Ed Plumb Funeral Held

Funeral service for Edward J. Plumb, 76, long time Niobrara resident, was held at the Peet Mortuary Chapel March 4 at 2:00 with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.

Mrs. Minerva Watson organist, accompanied Mark Lohr as he sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were John Jassman, John Sturman, Jess York, Everette Brooks, Robert Sides and Ted Lohr. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Mr. Plumb died Feb. 28 at Cheyenne.

Edward Joshua Plumb was born June 10, 1900, at Ardmore, S. D., the son of Edgar Joshua and Rebecca Hoy Plumb. He attended school in the Ardmore area and homesteaded there. He moved to Lusk in 1939 and engaged in the ranching business. He married Opal Martin at Harrison, Neb., Sept. 25, 1940. He was an avid horseman and raised race horses. He managed the Oasis Bar for Jerry Dull and in 1962 bought the Silver Dollar Bar here. He retired in 1972 and sold the business to John Jassman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three daughters, one son, two sisters and 5 brothers.

He is survived by his wife Opal of Lusk; six children; Madeline Smith of Napa, Calif., Nadine Spargur, Custer, S. D., Tom Plumb, Drain, Ore., Mary Roth, Texarkansas, Tex., Claude Plumb, Ardmore, S. D. , and Dean Plumb, Phoenix, Ariz., and one sister, Maude Irwin, Gillette, and 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
