Glen Gariepy Dies in Texas Thursday
Glen B. Gariepy, 58, Marathon Oil Company Chief Geologist in the domestic production organization died Thursday of a heart attack at Houston, Texas. He was a former Lusk resident.
His father, the late Charles Gariepy, was a veteran production employee of the Ohio Oil Company, now Marathon Oil and his mother, Mrs. C. F. Bautch now lives in Denver. Mr. Gariepy attended public school in Lusk and Illinois and was graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1926. He also took graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and Stanford University.
Mr. Gariepy worked in Lance Creek during summer vacations starting in 1920 at 16. In 1926 he joined the company as a full time employee. Positions he has held in the company included District Geologist at Bakersfield, Calif. and Los Angeles., Division Manager at the Shreveport, La., Division and Chief Geologist at the general office in Findlay, Ohio. He was to become Assistant Division Manager of the Houston Production Division Nov. 1 of this year.
He was survived by his wife Mrs. Pearl (Green) Gariepy, Houston a son Byran Lee Gariepy, Marathon Oil Geophysicist, Shreveport, La., and a daughter Marilyn Gariepy, Valley Forge, Penn. In addition to his mother. Funeral services were held Saturday in Houston.
