Stanley Peterson was born November 3, 1903, at Glenn, Neb. His life as a young man was spent breaking horses at Fort Robinson for the remount. Then he came to Wyoming and worked on the 88 ranch north of Douglas, again breaking horses. Sometime later he moved to Dugout Creek west of Midwest in the early 1920's and there he homesteaded in the business of raising horses for many years.
Mr. Petersen, because of his love for horses, became a well known bronco rider and competed at State Fairs and at Cheyenne and many other towns in the state.
Being a man with many interests he owned a trucking business in Casper. Later he and his family moved back to manage the Buffalo Creek ranch at Powder River, then to Utah where he worked for the Civil Service.
For the past fifteen years Mr. Petersen has been employed as a carpenter for the Federal American Pardners Uranium Co. at the Gas Hills. He recently retired and he and his family moved to Manville in February of this year.
Mr. Petersen is survived by his widow Eula; two sons, Wallace of Apple Valley, Calif., and George of Redmond, Calif.; three brothers; Lawrence of Cambridge, Minn., Harry and William of California; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, one stepson Don Jensen of Edgemont, S.D.
