Oliver "Bert" Bertram Peterson
Bert Peterson Dies Jan. 7 In Sun City Ariz.
O. B. (Bert) Peterson, 70, long time rancher in the Prairie Center community died at his home in Sun City, Ariz. January 7 following an extended illness.
Services were held in Sun City Saturday.
Oliver Bertram Peterson was born September 20, 1894 in Lead, S.D., the eldest child of John and Sophia Peterson. He received his schooling in Lead and moved with his family to a ranch south Van Tassell in 1913, where he was prominent in all community activities.
He served during World War I. He was a charter member of the Ferdinand Branstetter American Legion Post in Torrington and a member of the Sun City United Church.
He married Bess DeWitt in 1946 and they made their home in the Prairie Center community until his retirement four years ago.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Wesley of Torrington, Mahlon of Van Tassell, one half brother, A. L. of Suffolk, England; one sister, Mrs. Otis Havely of Torrington and one half sister, Mrs. Mathilde Fletcher of Los Angeles.
